The second VietNam-Japan Seminar on construction quality and project management

The second Vietnam-Japan seminar was held in Ho Chi Minh City on October 13 at Majestic Hotel to discuss how to manage and improve the quality of construction projects. The seminar was organized by the Vietnamese Ministry of Construction, the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism (MLIT) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). image002

The MoC, MLIT and JICA have been cooperating to improve the government’s administration system for construction work quality and safety management since 2010. The objectives of the seminar are to develop common understanding on the construction project management between Vietnam and Japan and to strengthen the cooperation in construction sector. Honorably representing Vietnam contractors, COFICO was humble to present achievements, as well as highlighted problems in construction management and factors affecting the construction work quality at COFICO sites.

Seminar delegates visiting Saigon Airport Plaza project

Representatives from MLIT and JICA spoke of the construction quality management system and the development of technology and construction materials in Japan and put forth proposals on standard technical regulations, registration system and evaluation of contractors’ performance. In addition to delivering their presentations and discussion on the issues, delegates to the seminar also made fact-finding visit to Saigon Airport Plaza project being executed by COFICO, which was received positive responses about safety and quality control. .
